What you’ll leave with

One manageable goal for your next play session.

Before you start

  • No profession experience needed

Pick something you would enjoy doing

Would you rather collect things while exploring, make equipment, or prepare useful supplies? Start with the activity that sounds fun. You can learn the details as you go.

Why this matters

A small goal you enjoy is easier to follow than a long list of things you feel you should do.

Help me choose a profession

Learn a few useful words

A profession is a skill such as Fishing or Tailoring. A recipe is the instruction for making something. Materials, sometimes called reagents, are the ingredients it uses. A skill-up is an increase in your profession’s skill number.

Why this matters

Once these words are familiar, recipe lists and crafting instructions are much easier to read.

Set a goal for one session

Try learning one recipe, making one useful item, or practicing a gathering skill for a while. Start from what your character can already do, and keep the goal small enough to finish today.

Why this matters

You can make progress without planning every level in advance.

Find a profession to try

Check what you need before you spend

For a craft, check that you can learn the recipe and read its materials list in game. Our profession pages can help you work out quantities. Start with a small batch, then see how it goes.

Why this matters

You avoid buying a pile of materials for something your character cannot make yet.
